Hi there! I never thought I would be one to ever make a blog, mostly because I always feel like I never had the time. The reality is...I never made the time. So, here is the first step.
When I first started hand lettering back in March of 2019, I was 5 months pregnant and had just quit my job at a company I was with for over 12 years. There was so much uncertainty of what was to come, but little did I know, that was the first step to a much happier me. Taking the time to truly do something that I loved, and to have something that was just for me was a good feeling. Of course at first, I wasn't very good. I had watched so many videos of people on Instagram with this beautiful lettering, they all had so many followers, and I wanted that. After a couple months, I hadn't gotten that much better and had about 7 followers on Instagram. I was nowhere near where I wanted to be, but I had taken that first step. I was trying to get better.
Fast forward to July and our son, Mason, was born. Hand lettering took a backseat to the most important job I will ever have, being a mom! As a few months went on and Mason was growing to be more independent, I found more time to get back to lettering. I loved using Tombow markers to letter on paper, but I felt myself wanting to make something that I could really show off. I went to Walmart and found a $2 blank wood sign. I bought a few of those, along with some paint pens that I found in the craft section and decided to make myself a 'welcome' sign. That was my first step into the world of sign making, and I was hooked. As you can see, it wasn't that great, but I MADE it. It was something that I had created and I loved it.
After that first sign, I never stopped. That first small step was all it took to start me on this amazing path to my own small business. My journey is still in its beginning stages, and I can't wait to share my path with you, every small step of the way. 👣
